🍂 Holidays · fourth Thursday in November

Thanksgiving hibachi catering at home

Not every Thanksgiving needs a turkey and not every night of that week is Thursday. A hibachi chef covers Friendsgiving, the night before, the Saturday after — or the year your family decides to skip the bird entirely.

Friendsgiving is the booking we take most

The Saturday or Sunday before Thanksgiving has quietly become its own holiday, and it is the version of the week we get asked about most. Nobody wants to cook a full traditional meal for friends two days before cooking one for family. A hibachi chef arrives with the grill and the propane, cooks the whole group in courses in front of them, and packs the station out — so the host of Friendsgiving hosts nothing more demanding than a playlist. It is also cheaper per head than most people assume once you price a turkey, six sides and the wine.

The night before, and the night after

Two other patterns come up every November. Wednesday: the house is already full of relatives who arrived early, the kitchen is committed to tomorrow, and nobody wants takeout — a chef cooking Wednesday evening keeps the kitchen clean for Thursday. And Saturday: the leftovers are finished, everyone is still in town, and a hibachi dinner is the opposite of everything eaten in the previous 72 hours. Both are far easier to book than Thursday itself.

Instead of the turkey

Some families genuinely do not want the traditional meal, and this is the polite way to say so. Two proteins per guest from steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon and tofu, with filet mignon and scallops as premium upgrades and lobster tail at market price. Every plate comes with hibachi fried rice, seasoned vegetables, salad and the house sauces, cooked in front of your guests instead of assembled in a kitchen for six hours. We do not cook turkey, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Thursday itself is limited

We do staff a small number of chefs on Thanksgiving Day, and those slots go early — most of our team is with their own families, which we are not going to change. If you want Thursday, book six weeks out and expect an afternoon rather than an evening. If the exact day is flexible, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday will get you a better chef at a better time. Call (484) 978-8774 and we will be straight with you about what is open.

Before you book Thanksgiving

If you are searching for hibachi catering near me, we publish a local page for 504 towns. A hibachi chef near you is usually closer than the map suggests. The hibachi show — onion volcano, flaming stack, shrimp toss, spatula drums — is included, never an upsell. Hibachi at home is the version where nobody drives, nobody waits for a table and nobody watches a clock. You are booking a private hibachi chef for the evening rather than ordering a delivery. A backyard hibachi setup needs a level area roughly 10 by 10 feet with open air above the grill. This is mobile hibachi catering: the grill, the propane and the food all come on the truck. An in-home hibachi setup under a proper range hood is the fallback whenever the weather is against you. The hibachi grill is a professional flat-top, not a backyard barbecue. A hibachi party is a meal and a performance inside the same 90 minutes. Every date costs the same: $55 an adult, $30 a child, a $550 event minimum, $50 travel for the first 50 miles with tolls included. (484) 978-8774 reaches a person, not a queue.

Where we cook

We serve 504 cities and towns with a local page for each one, and occasion pages for 165 of them. Find yours on the Service Areas list, or call (484) 978-8774 and ask which chef covers your address.

Questions we get asked

Do you cook on Thanksgiving Day itself?
A limited number of chefs work Thursday and those slots fill first — book about six weeks out and expect an afternoon time. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of that week are much easier to staff.
Do you cook turkey?
No. The grill runs steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon, tofu, filet mignon, scallops and lobster tail. Plenty of hosts serve a bird and let the hibachi be the hot food and the entertainment, and plenty skip the turkey entirely.
What does Friendsgiving for twelve cost?
Twelve adults at $55 each is $660, plus a flat $50 travel fee covering the first 50 miles with tolls included. Children are $30. That clears the $550 event minimum, and premium proteins are the only other variable.
Can you cook indoors in late November?
Yes — under a range hood, in an open garage with the door up, or on a covered porch. Agree the setup with us when you book rather than on the morning.
