New Year’s Eve hibachi catering at home
December 31 is the single hardest night of the year to get a table — and the single worst night to drive to one. A hibachi chef comes to the house instead, cooks in front of your guests, and is gone well before midnight.
Why hibachi at home wins on December 31
Every restaurant within an hour is running a fixed menu at double the usual price, with a seating slot at either 5:30 or 9:45 and a two-drink minimum. Then somebody has to drive home at 1am on the night with the most impaired drivers on the road. New Year’s Eve hibachi catering removes all three problems at once: the chef comes to you, the food is cooked in front of your guests instead of plated in a kitchen forty minutes earlier, and nobody in your house has to be sober enough to drive. You keep the countdown, the champagne and the television; we handle dinner.
Timing an early dinner or a late one
Two patterns work. An early sitting at 6 or 6:30 feeds the group, clears the kitchen and leaves four hours of open evening before midnight — this is the one families with children pick. A late sitting at 9 or 9:30 makes the meal itself the centrepiece and rolls straight into the countdown. Either way plan on about 90 minutes from the chef’s arrival to a clean station. Tell us which shape you want when you book, because December 31 is the date our chefs fill first every single year.
What to serve a New Year’s Eve crowd
This is the night people upgrade. Filet mignon and scallops are premium proteins on top of the standard steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon and tofu, and lobster tail is available at market price — a surf-and-turf plate cooked on a hibachi grill three feet from your guests reads as an occasion in a way a catering tray never will. Every plate still comes with hibachi fried rice, seasoned vegetables, salad and the house sauces. Drinks are yours: we do not supply or serve alcohol at any event.
Book December 31 early — seriously
New Year’s Eve, Christmas Eve and Mother’s Day are the three dates we run out of chefs. Chefs for December 31 start getting claimed in October and the last of them go in the first week of December. If your date is fixed, book with a rough headcount and adjust the guest count later; the count is easy to change and a chef someone else has taken is not. Call (484) 978-8774 and we will tell you honestly what is still open.
The practical side of New Year’s Eve
The hibachi show — onion volcano, flaming stack, shrimp toss, spatula drums — is included, never an upsell. You are booking a private hibachi chef for the evening rather than ordering a delivery. A backyard hibachi setup needs a level area roughly 10 by 10 feet with open air above the grill. This is mobile hibachi catering: the grill, the propane and the food all come on the truck. An in-home hibachi setup under a proper range hood is the fallback whenever the weather is against you. A hibachi party is a meal and a performance inside the same 90 minutes. A hibachi dinner runs about 90 minutes from the chef arriving to a clean station. If you are searching for hibachi catering near me, we publish a local page for 504 towns. A hibachi chef near you is usually closer than the map suggests. Every date costs the same: $55 an adult, $30 a child, a $550 event minimum, $50 travel for the first 50 miles with tolls included. (484) 978-8774 reaches a person, not a queue.
