Christmas hibachi catering at home

Christmas Eve is the night the family is together and the kitchen is a war zone. A hibachi chef cooks in the middle of the room instead β€” and whoever normally cooks gets to sit down for it.

Christmas Eve is the bigger booking

Between the two dates, December 24 is the one we are asked for most. It is the night the extended family arrives, the kitchen is already committed to tomorrow, and the person who cooks every year would like one evening off. A private hibachi chef arrives with the grill and the propane, cooks the whole room in courses, and leaves a clean station behind. Christmas Day bookings happen too, usually as a mid-afternoon sitting, but they are the harder of the two to staff.

Cooking in December, practically

Winter setups are our normal December work. An open garage with the door up is the single most reliable option: the chef gets ventilation and shelter, the guests stay warm inside, and the grill is still visible through the doorway. Indoors under a proper range hood works, and a covered porch works. The chef is comfortable in cold weather β€” the flat-top runs hot β€” so the only real question is where your guests will be sitting. We settle all of this when you book, not on the day.

A meal that is not the same meal again

By December 24 most households have eaten several versions of the same dinner. Hibachi is not one of them: two proteins per guest from steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon and tofu, filet mignon and scallops as premium upgrades, lobster tail at market price, every plate with hibachi fried rice, seasoned vegetables, salad and the house sauces. The show is included, and on a night with children in the house it is the part that ends up on everyone's phone.

This is the one to book in October

Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and Mother’s Day are the three dates where we genuinely run out of chefs. December 24 slots start being claimed in October and the last of them go in the first week of December. Book the date with a rough headcount and adjust the count later β€” the count is easy to change and the chef is not. Call (484) 978-8774 and ask what is left before you promise the family a time.

Christmas, in plain terms

This is mobile hibachi catering: the grill, the propane and the food all come on the truck. An in-home hibachi setup under a proper range hood is the fallback whenever the weather is against you. The hibachi grill is a professional flat-top, not a backyard barbecue. A hibachi party is a meal and a performance inside the same 90 minutes. A hibachi dinner runs about 90 minutes from the chef arriving to a clean station. If you are searching for hibachi catering near me, we publish a local page for 504 towns. A hibachi chef near you is usually closer than the map suggests. The hibachi show β€” onion volcano, flaming stack, shrimp toss, spatula drums β€” is included, never an upsell. Hibachi at home is the version where nobody drives, nobody waits for a table and nobody watches a clock. A backyard hibachi setup needs a level area roughly 10 by 10 feet with open air above the grill. The numbers are simple β€” $55 per adult, $30 per child, $550 minimum on the event, $50 flat travel inside 50 miles. Tell us the date and the headcount on (484) 978-8774.

Where we cook

We serve 504 cities and towns with a local page for each one, and occasion pages for 165 of them. Find yours on the Service Areas list, or call (484) 978-8774 and ask which chef covers your address.

Questions we get asked

Can you cook on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
Both, with December 24 the more available of the two. A limited number of chefs work Christmas Day itself, usually mid-afternoon. Either way, book in October or early November.
Can the chef cook outside in December?
Yes. The chef works at a hot flat-top and cold weather is not a problem for him; the consideration is your guests. An open garage with the door up is our most common December setup, and indoors under a range hood is always available.
Is there a holiday surcharge?
No. Adults are $55, children $30, $550 event minimum, flat $50 travel for the first 50 miles with tolls included and $1 per mile beyond. The constraint on December 24 is chef availability, not price.
Can you handle a large family gathering?
One chef and one grill covers up to about 25 guests in courses. Beyond that we send a second chef and a second grill, which on Christmas Eve needs to be arranged well in advance because both chefs have to be free.
