Proposal & anniversary hibachi dinners

A proposal needs privacy, a timeline you control, and nobody at the next table filming. A private hibachi chef at home gives you all three — plus a fire show on cue.

Why a proposal at home beats a restaurant

In a restaurant you are working around a reservation, a server you have to brief in a whisper, and strangers three feet away. With a private hibachi chef at home you own the room. We arrive discreetly, set up where you tell us, and cook to a timeline you set — including the exact moment you want the grill to go quiet. Several of our chefs have staged the flame for the ring reveal. Tell us the plan and we will rehearse the cue with you before guests arrive.

What an anniversary hibachi dinner includes

The private hibachi chef, the grill and propane, all cooking, the knife and fire show, and clean-up. Plates come with hibachi fried rice, seasoned vegetables, salad and our signature sauces plus two proteins each. For a romantic hibachi dinner at home most couples upgrade to filet mignon with shrimp or scallops, and lobster tail is available on request. Bring your own wine — we do not handle alcohol, which keeps the evening entirely yours.

Pricing for a two-person hibachi dinner

The honest version: there is a $550 event minimum, and it applies to a table of two just as it does to twenty. Adults are $55 each, so a couple pays the minimum, not $110 — you are buying a chef’s evening, the equipment and the travel, not a headcount. Travel is a flat $50 for the first 50 miles with tolls included, then $1 per mile. Many couples invite six or eight people once they know the minimum is the same, and turn the proposal into the surprise at the end of dinner.

Staging the moment with your chef

Send us the plan when you book: where you want the grill, where she will be standing, and what the signal is. The chef can hold the fire show until your cue, quiet the grill for the question, or bring the last plate out with something on it. Photographers hidden in the garage, a sibling filming from a window, a dog that must be let out at exactly the wrong time — we have worked around all of it. In-home hibachi is flexible in a way a restaurant proposal simply is not.

Questions we get asked

Will you cook for just two people?
Yes. The $550 event minimum applies, so a couple pays the minimum rather than $110 — you are booking a chef’s evening, the equipment and the travel. Many couples add a few guests once they know the price is the same.
Can the chef help stage the proposal?
That is one of our favourite requests. Tell us the cue at booking and the chef will hold the fire show, quiet the grill for the question, or bring out the last plate as the signal. We rehearse the cue with you before guests arrive.
Can you set up somewhere private, like a rooftop or a rental?
Rooftops, rental houses, beach houses and private terraces all work, so long as there is a level spot of about 10 by 10 feet with overhead clearance. Confirm with the property that open-flame cooking is permitted, and send us a photo of the spot.
Do you provide wine or champagne?
We do not handle alcohol. Bring your own — most couples chill the champagne themselves and have the chef time the last plate to the toast.
How far ahead should an anniversary dinner be booked?
Two to three weeks is comfortable, and longer for a Friday or Saturday in peak season. If the date is fixed by an anniversary, book as early as you can and we will confirm the chef against it.
